VET & Career News
Hello, I am Naomi Gill, Carroll College’s Careers Adviser. I look forward to working with the College community this year. Careers management is like many things in life - it needs conscious effort and goal setting to constantly navigate the ever-changing world of work and study. It is important that students take an active role in their career planning, so they make informed decisions and meet application deadlines.
In order to assist students and parents with career planning Carroll college has a designated careers website https://www.careerscarrollcollege.com/ which I encourage you and your child to regularly visit and explore. You can sign up under the calendar for weekly email summaries of opportunities and events that are occurring in areas such as apprenticeships/ traineeships, universities, Australia Defence Force and other fields. Students in Year 10, 11 and 12 will have a student account to assist them in managing their careers exploration and goal setting.
Information will continue to be distributed via the careers Facebook page and through student email, so students are reminded to regularly check and then take the necessary actions as required.
A VET induction day will occur on the morning of the 25th February in the Hub. Students in Year 11 who have selected a VET course will complete induction paperwork, work placement induction and registration, uniform fittings and will need to bring their Unique Student Identifier (USI) with them or bring a form of identification with them such as their license, medicare card or passport to generate a USI.
The UOW Discovery Day is on 18th February for Yr 12 students. It is a fantastic opportunity for students to experience what a day at University is like. UOW Discovery Day registration is open with details emailed to Year 12 students in week 1 of the term and will close on 8th February. No late registrations will be accepted due to Covid planning restrictions. College permission notes are available on Qkr. We look forward to all Year 12 being a part of a great day.
