Agriculture News
What a term it has been in TAS! The warm weather and consistent rainfall have helped with the Spring crop of vegetables that are literally jumping out of the ground. We have been lucky enough to receive 36 quail eggs from Mr Gary Hawkins of Moruya. The eggs are currently in the incubator and due to hatch any day now. We would like to send out a HUGE thank you to Gary for his generous donation. Gary, also known as Gizmo in the local area grown quails for meat and supplies restaurants up and down the coast. He also sells his eggs at Southland Fruit and Vegetable store in Moruya. The students are excited to see the eggs hatch and to have some more animals at the farm. We recently renames the Ag Plot and it is now called Red Gate Farm. Our entry gate has now been appropriately painted red and will soon have a sign made with the new name. Harley and Rose are now ¾ of their final weight and will soon be fully grown. They have been a wonderful addition to the Red Gate Farm and have become well loved by the students and staff. Their playful and friendly nature makes them the perfect addition to our school and we look forward to seeing them grow and thrive over the coming years.

Design and Technology News
In other news the design and technology students have completed their wax models of their Art Deco rings and they have been sent off to be cast in Sterling Silver. In the down time while waiting for their rings to return the students have been designing a Ring Box to hold and display their completed rings. The boxes are being designed using a variety of online drawing programs such as Sketch Up and Illustrator and will eventually be cut out using the laser cutter. Along with the was rings the students have completed an acrylic ring and a wooden ring to learn different techniques and to explore a variety of materials. I look forward to sharing all their completed projects in the next newsletter.
Food Technology News
Recently the Year 9-10 Food Technology students completed a practical exam making Meringues. The results were amazing and the students are to be commended on their hard work. Next year the Year 7 and 8 students will be introduced to more Agriculture in their Food/Ag program and will be planting, monitoring, harvesting and processing their produce. This will be a great stepping stone to Agriculture in Years 9 and 10 and we look forward to seeing them out in the garden more.
Timber News
WOW! What an amazing year it has been for the Technology Mandatory students. Their projects have been design, produced and finished to such a high standard and they should all be very proud of themselves. The new laser cutter has enabled the students to personalise their projects in a more professional way. Students have learnt to use Inkscape and Illustrator to produce vector graphics that they have them etched using the laser cutter, into their projects. I look forward to seeing this grow and the use of this machine increase as students become more confident in their design skills.
