Curriculum News
In the final newsletter for 2020, I would like to say a huge thank you to all the students, parents and staff for all your efforts in what has been a remarkable year. Despite all that nature has thrown at us this year, students have continued to learn, parents have supported their students and teachers have risen to new challenges. It will be with great pleasure that I will present our academic award winners at our upcoming awards ceremony in Week 10. Of all years, these students have thoroughly earned their achievements.
At the Awards Ceremony, there will be a number of different awards presented. Students who have gained an A in a subject will be recognised with an Academic Award. If a student has gained more than half their course results as As in both Semester 1 and Semester 2 and with no other results less than a C grade, they will be awarded an Academic Excellence Award. For those students who excel at school and have received As for ALL their courses in both Semester 1 and 2, they will receive a Dux Award. For our students who always put in their best efforts all the time, the Endeavour Award is presented. This award is based on the students Learning Habits in their reports. Those students in Years 7-10 must achieve 90% of their Learning Habits as “Always” and have nothing less than “Usually”. Those students in Year 11 must achieve “Excellent” with no more than 2 “Good” results in their Application and Conduct sections of their reports. Details of the Awards Ceremony will be sent out to parents shortly.
For our students in Years 7-10, the upcoming holidays are a chance to relax and unwind. Students in Year 11 have already commenced their HSC studies. These holidays are a perfect opportunity to spend some time consolidating their understanding of the concepts covered in Term 4. Next year, the last remaining three terms of their schooling will fly by, so any time spent consolidating their learning will pay dividends in the assessments next year.
I wish everyone a safe and happy holiday.
