RE Matters
On Tuesday November 24, the College was very pleased to hold the Year 9 Formation Day at the school. Ordinarily, students travel to a local venue for this day, but this year it was held on the school grounds. The day was facilitated by Senior leaders, Damia O’Loughlin, Faith Captain, Emma Tuckwell, College Captain, Sarah Penberthy, Vice-Captain, Gemma Mass and Madeleine Forner, Xavier Captains and Gemma Ferguson, Youth Ministry Team member. We were also fortunate to have our Youth Minister for 2021, Liarna Miller with us on the day. Liarna graduated from Carroll College this year and has been successful in gaining the position of Youth Minster for next year. She will be working at the College 2-3 days per week and on other days working in the St Bernard’s and St Mary’s parishes and primary schools.
The Senior Leaders ably lead the Year 9 students through a program entitled, “Who am I?” The day featured games, small group discussions, large group input from the Senior Leaders and watching a motivational speech by Nick Vujicic. These days are always a wonderful opportunity for personal development and time with friends. All in all students had a fun day being with each other.
Some comments from Year 9 about the day…
“My favourite part from Formation Day was when we played the games and how the Year 11 were involved to help us out.”
“My favourite thing that I learnt from Nick Vujicic was “don’t let others words bring you down – you are worth something.”
“I enjoyed the social activity where we would share and come up with ideas as a group.”
“I appreciated the encouragement from the teachers, students and Yr 11 helpers. Everyone was really involved when participating and I got to know more about other people.”
