Support South Coast Music Society

Did you know that St Cecilia Music Scholarships and South Coast Music Society were both established by Maria de Rocco in 1995.

We are pleased to share news of the following upcoming concert offered by South Coast Music Society.

Students attending the concert with an accompaniying adult are admitted free! So come along and experience the following concert on Sunday 29 September 2019.

An afternoon of drama, excitement and unexpected joy!

Kristian Chong (piano) and Sophie Rowell (violin) play sonatas by Mozart, Beethoven and Saint Saëns.  St Bernard’s Church, David Ave Batehaven, 3pm Sunday 29 September 2019.

Purchase tickets at the door or at www.southcoastmusicsociety.com

Adults $35, Concessions $30, students and an accompanying adult free.

Kristian Chong (piano), and Sophie Rowell (violin), are two of Australia's finest musicians. They are recognised as fine soloists and chamber musicians, and have created a formidable musical partnership.

In four great sonatas, Kristian and Sophie will play music as conversation, an intriguing dialogue between piano and violin. “This music has many human characteristics and emotions – it features elegance, drama, love, excitement and breathless and unexpected joy!” says Kristian Chong.

This music will also thrill audiences with its intimacy, complexity and drama.  It will require sensitivity and virtuosic performances from both musicians.

Kristian and Sophie both enjoy playing for regional audiences, saying “In regional locations there is a sense of friendliness and warmth perhaps not expressed so openly in cities, and this is always appreciated. You can really feel the anticipation as you play!”

This performance will also feature the new Kawai concert grand piano recently purchased by the South Coast Music Society.  This piano, and the fine acoustics of St Bernard’s, will guarantee a sound quality and concert experience that is unrivalled in the region. The purchase of the piano is a major commitment to live performance of classical music on the south coast and will guarantee that musicians of international calibre continue to travel here to perform for enthusiastic local audiences.

Tickets are available from www.southcoastmusicsociety.comor at the door (cash only)
