Principal's Letter
Dear Parents, Students and Friends
It has been an absolute pleasure this week to celebrate with Year 12 and be part of their final days at the College. The Year 12 Formal was thoroughly enjoyed by all last night. In my address to Year 12 at their farewell assembly on Wednesday, I expressed my hopes for them and that they leave the College with confidence and optimism for the future. I encouraged them to strive for excellence in all their endeavours and be passionate about life to achieve their goals.

Staffing Update
Mrs Veronica Harrold-Carter returns to work next term following her injury. I am pleased to report that Veronica is recovering well and is looking forward to being back at work. I take this opportunity to thank Ms Lizette Richards for her leadership in the role of Xavier Pastoral Coordinator. Ms Richards has been a wonderful asset to the pastoral team bringing a high level of teaching experience to the position.
Mr Greg McAteer is taking leave for the first two weeks of Term 4. I congratulate Mrs Corrinne Dell on her successful appointment to the role of Mackillop Pastoral Coordinator (Acting) in Mr McAteer’s absence.
We welcome Mr Jason Szkwarek to the teaching staff next term. Mr Szkwarek comes to us from Lavalla Catholic College Traralgon, Victoria. Mr Szkwarek has held the position of Product Design and Technology/VET Building Teacher/Victorian Certified of Applied Learning (VCAL) Learning Leader/Trades Skills Centre Manager.
Mr Szkwarek is a highly motivated and passionate educator with a proven ability to foster strong relationships with students and parents. He has extensive knowledge and experience in Inquiry-based, Project-based Learning and an understanding of UbD methodology, and Product Design and Technology Method. He has industry skills in Building and Construction, Cabinet and Furniture Making and Manufacturing, and advanced skills in Information Communications Technology.
Uniform Proposals
For some time, the students have been commenting on our sports shorts and the restrictive nature of the fabric. We are currently looking into a new design to allow for greater comfort and suitability.
In years past, the Senior Leadership Team members have had access to College blazers to wear for special events. These have not been an attractive addition to our school uniform, as they have not complemented our College colours in design or structure. We are hoping to introduce a new tailored designed Carroll College blazer for Years 11 & 12 students (optional). This will distinguish our senior students from Years 7-10, making this uniform item a special feature of the senior uniform. No decisions will be made until designs are presented to the Community Council for approval. We would like to remove the ‘bomber’ jacket from the Year 12 uniform. The quality, design and weight of this item is not ideal. I know the students are keen to have their name appear somewhere on their senior uniform when they reach Year 12. This idea is currently being considered and could possibly be added to the Canterbury jersey that is so popular among students. New supplies are being ordered to coincide with our 25th College Anniversary.
Pupil Free Day
Please keep in mind that school resumes for all students on Monday 14 October for Term 4. The Pupil Free day for Term 4 is Friday 18 October (end of Week 1).
