Currents Live Event and Triple J Unearthed High
On Saturday 13 July, Eurobodalla Shire Council held a youth event called Currents Live Music at the RSL Hall in Moruya. The headlining acts were Mild Manic, Pretty People and Potent Soap.
A band from each of the five local schools was invited to perform a 20-minute set of songs which needed to include an original composition. The band that represented Carroll College consisted of Bree Mealy, Riley Maher, Kobi Briggs, Jack McAteer and Issac Gorzalka. This newly formed band did not have a name and decided on the name, Soccer Mum for this event. They have since changed their name to Singled Out.
After the success of their original song, "Control", the school arranged for Matt O'Brien to professionally record the song for them at school. The music area of the school was turned into a recording studio for the day. Matt then very generously spent three days professionally editing and producing the song so that the students could enter it into the Triple J Unearthed High competition. We would like to thank Matt for his expertise and encouragement of students at Carroll College.
