Big History Excursion:
On the 20th June 2019 the Big History Students travelled to Canberra to visit both Mt Stromlo Observatory and Geoscience.
At Mt Stromlo students experienced the vast amount of experimentation and documentation happening. Students were given a tour of the premises and saw the destruction made from the bush fires in Canberra and the current research preformed at the centre. While walking through some areas students got to see a meteorite that was millions of years old, satellite scientists where experimenting with to send into space as well as meeting a Noble Prize winner.
Geoscience was the next destination in which students got to experience a wide range of activities and instruments that are currently being used by geologists. Students got to see the National Earthquake Centre, minerals and an array of different metaphoric, igneous and sedimentary rocks as well as a device that can date rocks back to their original formation.
Student enjoyed both Mt Stromlo as well as Geoscience. I would also like to thank Mr Foster for organising the excursion.

Carroll College Science Fair:
In Term 2 students where tasked with completing an experiment for their Student Research Project (SRP). Students could choose a wide range of topics to research, which could include seeing how long Mc Donald’s burgers take to develop mould compared to a burger made at home or seeing if kicking a soccer ball from different angles resulted in the highest amount of goals recorded.
All students completed their SRP and from that 14 students were chosen to complete in the Carroll College Science Fair. These students where Harrison Flavell, Jonas Kew, Tane Simons, Ryles Walters, Madeline Handley, Bethany Russell, Emma Moses, Christopher User, Lawson Harris, Josh Stanley, Alana Gallen, Saithong Fafie and Nathaniel Traynor.
