Assistant Principal - Pastoral Care
It has been an extremely busy start to the term with many events taking place in the College.
On Friday the students in Year 10 took part in the Love Bites program run by Impact Eurobodalla. The program explores with students the importance of relationships and issues of domestic violence and its impact on society.
Love Bites, although at times confronting, is very important as students explore the terrible impact that domestic violence has on our society. This is an issue so prevalent but often not discussed in society. The NSW Police also gave a talk to students around responsibilities in relationships and their rights and responsibilities. I thank both Impact Eurobodalla and the NSW Police for their work on the day and most importantly the students who showed maturity and asked some great questions.
The Pastoral Team is looking to expand the Love Bites program later in the year with Year 7, 8 and 9 to explore issues around cyber safety, friendships, and bullying. All of these issues will affect young people sometimes during their path to adulthood. It is important that discussions take place in the open with students about these issues so that appropriate behaviours are modelled and students know where they can access and what support is available when needed.
