Assistant Principal Pastoral Care
Rights and responsibilities were front and centre during the college assembly this week. The connection between these two terms was made very clear. We can expect to have our rights recognised but when living and working in a community we must acknowledge the responsibility we have to behaviour in a correct way so that we do not encroach or detract from the rights of others.
We covered 5 key student rights and examples of the correct student behaviour that supports them.
The right to be treated with respect, politeness and honesty.
The right to be happy, to be treated with understanding and to have a sense of belonging.
The right to obtain maximum benefit from all lessons.
The right to feel safe and protected at all times and the right for my property to be respected.
The right to share a pleasant, clean and well-maintained school environment with others.
Year 8 Pastoral Day
The 2025 Jubilee year theme is “Pilgrims of Hope”. It is very fitting that the theme of Hope was chosen to be the focus for the Year 8 Pastoral Day. Hope for the world, our communities and ourselves. During the day the students had time for prayer, reflection, learning about themselves and spending time with their peers. Thank you to the Pastoral team for their creativity in meeting the needs of our students and for delivery this thought provoking day. Thank you also to Mrs Whiteman for preparing a delicious lunch.
Attention all Year 12 students and families
Each year, the Batemans Bay Youth Foundation offers student grants to Year 12 students who reside in the Eurobodalla bounded by Durras North, Nelligen and the Moruya River. The $3500 grants are available for students that intend to further their education at University or TAFE. This generous grant can be used to assist students with living expenses and the cost of training and education associated with their chosen career.
Last year, Emma Penberthy, Grace Johnston, Shelby Henderson and Tahlia Stjepanovic from Year 12 2024 were successful with their application for this grant.
Applications are open in September and close on 30 November 2025.
For further information and the application form, please go to www.bbyf.org.au
Thank you to the Batemans Bay Youth Foundation for this invaluable support of our local students.
Kind regards
Mrs Louise Ibbett
