Today, we celebrate the Feast of the Assumption, a solemnity that honours Mary, the Mother of Jesus, being taken body and soul into Heaven. This feast reminds us of Mary’s unwavering “yes” to God, her deep trust in His plan, and her role as a model of discipleship. It is a timely opportunity to reflect on how we, too, can live out our faith with courage and commitment in our daily lives. This morning, our staff gathered for a beautiful Mass to mark this feast day, presided over by Father Josh. It was a time of prayer, reflection, and unity as we honoured Mary and sought her intercession for our community.

This week also marked a very special moment for our parish and school community; the installation Mass of Father Joshua Scott as our Parish Priest. Archbishop Christopher Prowse, in his homily, invited us not only to rejoice in this occasion but also to take up a challenge: to put our faith into action. He reminded us that faith is not something we keep quietly to ourselves, but something we live out in service, kindness, and care for others. The Archbishop also offered a warm and practical request; to look after Father Josh, who, like all of us, is human and may be tempted to work too hard. We are grateful to have Father Josh’s joyful presence at Carroll College. Students have enjoyed his visits to classrooms, his friendly conversations in the playground, and the opportunity to get to know him on a personal level.

As a community, we also continue to put our faith into action through our ongoing Winter Appeal. Funds are being raised through both our Winter Sleepout and raffle tickets for a beautiful Indigenous artwork generously donated by artist Bronwen Smith. Your generosity will help provide much-needed support for those experiencing homelessness this winter.
