Advanced Maths: Year 10 Gets a Head Start
On Thursday 7 August, Year 10 students who are considering Advanced Mathematics in Year 11 attended an Advanced Mathematics Skills Workshop. Throughout the day the students completed many questions and activities to strengthen their algebraic skills essential for success, as well as practising graphing, solving equations, and learning what the discriminant is and how it can be used.
The workshop gave students a taste of the type of thinking and problem-solving they’ll encounter in the Advanced Mathematics course, while building their confidence and understanding. The students left feeling clearer about what Advanced Mathematics involves and are better prepared to decide if it’s the right pathway for them next year.
