Spotlight on SBAT: Learning Beyond the Classroom
This week, we caught up with one of our students who’s taking part in a School-Based Apprenticeship or Traineeship (SBAT) with Raine & Horne Batemans Bay. Every Tuesday, Kaylee steps out of the classroom and into the workplace, gaining hands-on experience in the real estate industry while still completing her studies here at the College. We asked her a few questions about her journey, what she’s learned, and how SBAT is helping shape her future.
Name: Kaylee Lloyd, Year 10
What made you want to do an SBAT, and how did you get started?
I wanted to be able to pursue a career while still being able to attend school.
I spoke with Mrs Dalgleish about my options, and from there, I emailed different businesses to put my interest out there. I was lucky enough to gain employment with Raine & Horne Batemans Bay.
What do you usually do on Tuesdays when you're at your SBAT placement?
- Using the Phone System & completing office tasks
- Key Management
- Screening Checklists
- Going out on inspections
- Learning processes of property management and real estate software.
Would you reccommend doing an SBAT to other students? Why or why not?
I would recommend doing an SBAT because it can give you an early insight of what is involved in this industry as a full-time career. I also get to still attend school with my friends and complete my schooling.
We’d like to thank Raine & Horne Batemans Bay for supporting our students and providing such a valuable learning opportunity. Programs like SBAT help bridge the gap between school and the workforce, and we’re proud to see our students thriving.
