Meet the Cast - Buddy - Played by Justin Murphy

In his final Carroll College musical, Justin Murphy takes on the role of Buddy in We Will Rock You. Describing his character as a “fun, hippy, dude,” Justin says he loves playing such a quirky and peace-loving role — especially one with hilarious lines. He relates to Buddy’s laid-back nature and “dumb ideas,” though he insists he’s no hippy himself! Justin’s favourite parts of rehearsals have been the laughs and teamwork, despite sometimes forgetting AM break sessions. He recommends the show for its energy, humour, and Queen’s epic music. His pre-show mantra? “There are no mistakes, just happy little accidents.”

 

Meet the Cast - Scaramouche - Played by Leana Browne

Taking centre stage as Scaramouche in We Will Rock You, Year 11 student Leana Browne brings sass, strength and a touch of vulnerability to this iconic role. Describing her character as “strong, sassy and lonely,” Leana enjoys portraying Scaramouche’s sharp wit and sarcasm, as well as the moments where she lets her guard down. While they're not exactly alike, Leana admits there are moments where she thinks, “haha, she’s so me.” Through the rehearsal process, Leana has discovered more about her vocal range and is having a blast working alongside castmates. Her favourite Queen song? Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy — not in the show, but from the same album as Somebody to Love, which Leana performs on stage.
