Assistant Principal - Curriculum, Learning and Innovation
As always it has been a busy two weeks here at the college with students accessing a variety of learning opportunities.
We were very pleased to welcome so many of you to our Parent - Teacher Evening last week. It was wonderful to meet so many parents and see your interest and support of your child's education. We look forward to welcoming those parents who have chosen to attend on our second Parent - Teacher Evening on Tuesday 8th April.
This is the time of the term, where many of your children will be preparing for upcoming assessment tasks. All of these details are available on the assessment@carroll link on SENTRAL. Please remember that if your child is unable to submit their task or sit their assessment on the allocated day, contact the college to notify the relevant teacher so that alternative arrangements can be made. For any illness and misadventure appeals please ask your child to submit the form available on the assessment@carroll site. Assessment is not designed to become a stressful experience for our students. Assessment both Formative (as you are learning) and Summative (at the end of a learning process) is designed to inform our practice as teachers and to make adjustments along the way. I encourage all of our students to balance their time, inside and outside of the classroom, and plan and seek support if necessary to ensure that they are able to achieve the best outcomes that reflect their learning.
I also encourage all of our students to access the extra support offered here at the college. The Maths team offer personalised support sessions every Tuesday during AM break and there is also the Senior Study after school every Monday and Wednesday between 3:20 and 4:20 pm in the HUB.
It is very pleasing to see that so many students are working to the best of their ability, with 280 students receiving positive incidents or awards from their class teachers for their hard work and dedication to their studies this week. I would like to personally congratulate all of these students and encourage them to keep up the fantastic work!
Each Key Learning Area is dedicated to providing a variety of learning opportunities for all of our students, to promote engagement, special interest and excellence in their studies and I encourage all of our students to take advantage of these, as they are what makes Carroll College a community of opportunity.
Enjoy your weekend,
Ms Linda Dwyer
