The camp was an incredibly successful experience, thanks in no small part to the hard work and dedication from everyone involved. It was truly inspiring to see our Year 11 students stepping into their leadership roles, guiding and supporting the Year 7s through the activities and challenges. Their leadership, maturity, and commitment to fostering a positive and supportive environment were remarkable. It was especially pleasing to see some of our Year 11 students shine in this experience – a different environment to the classroom and a promising one for their leadership skills to thrive.
The Year 7s, in turn, showed great enthusiasm and engagement. They were excited to connect with their peer leaders and each other, and it was wonderful to witness the growth in their confidence and sense of belonging throughout the camp. The connections they made with the Year 11 students are sure to have a lasting impact on their school experience.
The camp itself was filled with team-building activities, and opportunities for reflection, which contributed to strengthening relationships between the two year groups. It was clear that the students learned a great deal from each other, and the positive atmosphere created by both the Year 7s and Year 11s was truly special. From the Tabourie Takedown to disco dancing and going on walks in the rain - our students embraced it all. We had a number of residents in the park come up and provide us with really nice positive feedback about our students. A huge bonus was the way our students left the camp ground – not one emu walk had to happen – they cleaned up and left no rubbish at all!
I’d like to express my gratitude to all staff who contributed to making this camp such a success. Your support, both in the lead-up to and during the camp, was invaluable. I believe the experience has not only strengthened our peer support program but also fostered a deeper sense of community within the school and I look forward to working with the students in these groups throughout the year.
This shout out goes particularly to Jon Brady, Charlton Fogarty, Greg McAteer, Linda Dwyer, Ellisha Large, Cat Davis, Ryan Bissell, Jeremy Harding, Hallie Wignell, Deb Mason and Mel Tiffen. Their dedication to be away from their loved ones for two nights shows how much they value providing these experiences for our students. Thank you to our incredible chef Amy Dalgleish – the way she effortlessly prepped, cooked and fed 140 people was remarkable!
Thank you

Last Wednesday afternoon, Year 7 students and 30 Year 11 leaders embarked on an exciting adventure to Lake Tabourie. Upon arrival at the campsite, we set up our tents and were treated to a delicious vegetarian nachos dinner to mark Ash Wednesday, which was prepared by Mrs Dalgleish and our hospitality students.
The evening concluded with a massive group game inspired by capture the flag, beginning with everyone together for some friendly competition. Day two was packed with fun-filled activities, including beach games, arts and crafts, and team challenges that was full of school spirit. Despite the wet weather on the final day, we made sure we made the most of our time having fun in the rain. Over the three days, on behave of the Year 11 leaders we really did enjoy forming such a strong bond and connection between the Year 7s, which made the camp such an amazing experience. It was such a wonderful opportunity for leadership, teamwork and fun!
Being a leader at the Year 7/11 camp was an incredible experience. It was so much fun working as a team with the new students and reliving the memories from when we were in Year 7. We remember being in their shoes, and it was amazing to see all the different personalities that made up our groups. Everyone enjoyed the many activities like Bondi Rescue, and the Year 7s were so engaged and competitive, each trying their best to help our team win. I will always remember camp, and I encourage everyone to try and be a Year 11 leader when they get the chance.
