A new year of student life is here at CCB! After what felt like our longest Summer break, it has been really refreshing seeing and chatting to the students upon their return to school. There is excitement in the air to see friends and meet new teachers! A particular shout out goes to our new Year 7 students who are transitioning into a new school life.

Starting secondary school brings a lot of changes – new classmates, different teachers, more homework, and navigating a larger school. It is completely normal for students to feel a mix of excitement and nerves about this big step.

As Wellbeing Coordinator, I encourage parents and family members to help make this transition smoother by supporting your child both practically and emotionally. Establishing consistent routines, encouraging healthy eating and sleep habits, maintaining open communication, and fostering positive relationships with teachers and new friends can all play a key role in making the move to secondary school a successful and less stressful experience.

My role at the college is to support students' mental, emotional and social health. I work directly with the Student Leadership Team and assist them in leading the initiatives around the school. Designing, planning and implementing wellbeing programs and activities, resilience-building workshops in the HUB and acknowledging important events throughout the year are some of my key focus areas.

One of the most exciting events is the upcoming Year 7 and 11 Peer Support Camp which is happening 5 - 7 March in Week 5 this term. Students in Year 7 received details about how to organise and prepare for the camp on Wednesday. The camp is a valuable experience for all involved, a memory that will last forever and an opportunity to develop connections with peers in Year 7 and get to know the senior leaders.

Emily and Josh our College Captains are including their Captains Corner articles in this newsletter and I would love to acknowledge their dedication and leadership so far into their roles. Well done on the energetic and innovative ideas that they are providing the college community.
I look forward to the term ahead and embracing the multiple events and activities our college offers with the SLT and SRC.

Take care,
