Captains' Corner
The Welcome address to the college from our new Captains and Vice Captains at our recent assembly.
Josh: Good morning Mrs Heffernan, special guests, staff and students, welcome back to the final term of 2024 and to the first of many assemblies from your new student leadership team. As you may know, we are your college captains, Emily and Josh and alongside us are your college vice captains, Erin and Archie. Together we would like to warmly welcome you to this occasion where we will express our ideas and begin to implement initiatives for the foreseeable future. During this term, there are many events that are taking place and we encourage everyone to participate to the best of their ability. These include Wellbeing Wednesdays in the HUB, World Teachers Day, the Years 7 and 11 Inter-House Battle, The Urban Challenge, sporting competitions and many more.
Emily: We are extremely fortunate for the busy term ahead to end our year. Out of the range of events to come, I am most excited to partake in the Year 7 and 11 Inter-House Battle in Week 4! Navigating through this term I encourage you to find any assistance or guidance from us, your captains and SLT members. We are here to help and support you, so feel free to approach us anytime.
Erin: Being our first official term in a leadership position, we are all super excited to embrace this position with gratitude and confidence. We hope to be a team that works together effectively to bring forward new ideas and visions for the school whilst also being a welcoming body to any students wishing to reach out for some advice, study tips or simply someone to chat with. Regarding what is coming up on the college calendar, don’t forget, that next Friday is World Teachers' Day so remember to show your teachers some extra love and support for all their efforts!
Archie: On the odd chance you’re not familiar with the new Student Leadership Team (SLT), the College Captains are Josh and Emily, Vice Captains are Erin and I, Social Justice captains are Brooklyn and Angus, Indigenous Captains are Robert, Marlee, and Savannah, Chisholm Captains are Kira and Akin, Mackillop Captains are Keira and Marissa, and Xavier Captains are Will and Kehlei. Coming into the final term and next year, we encourage you to commit yourselves to your study. Semester 2 reports are coming up and teachers will be focusing very carefully on your study habits and behaviour. We also motivate you to participate in as many extracurricular activities as you can, as they make you a more rounded person and it doesn’t look too bad on a resume! Best of luck for the Year 10 students facing the Urban Challenge.
