Year 8 Pastoral Day
Year 8 Pastoral Day
Year 8 had an absolutely brilliant Pastoral day on Friday of Week 5! We started the day listening to the credible Brett Murray from Making Bullying History Life Choices Foundation as he spoke about the importance of self worth and knowing that your worth is incomprehensible, incomparable to anyone else.
Brett told his story to our students that involved sharing his own bullying challenges throughout high school and how being aware of your own capabilities and dreams can help you make positive changes. The key message was that if you embrace the positive mindset, you will act and be a positive person, to benefit others but more importantly, yourself.
Year 8 then listened and discussed the topics of diversity and discrimination and were very mature in unpacking these issues in our own society. The students engaged in a Diversity Walk and discussed the importance of showing empathy for others, even within our own community. The final sessions involved painting the house colours on the oval panels near D block, making videos about the themes of the day and enjoying a friendly game of multi sport!
Well done to all involved!
