HSIE News
It's been a busy few weeks for our HSIE students. Year 12 students have completed their Trial HSC exams and are now reflecting on their results and planning for the upcoming HSC. We encourage our students to use their last few weeks in classes to prepare, seek guidance from their teachers and apply this to their study program.
Year 11 students are currently finishing off depth studies in preparation for their Preliminary Exams in Weeks 8 and 9. I encourage all of our Year 11 students to familiarise themselves with their exam timetable and also seek support from their class teachers as they prepare.
Our Year 11 Modern History Class is currently studying Shaping of the Modern World with a source-based study of World War 1. Miss Price was able to arrange a source box from the Australian War Memorial. This is such a wonderful learning opportunity for our students, and we thank Miss Price for arranging it.
Year 10 History students are currently completing their Depth Study Changing Rights and Freedoms, with a particular focus on the US Civil Rights Movement in the 1950's and 60's and will be assessed in Week 7.
Stage 5, World History students have just completed their study of Witch Hunts and Witch Trials in Europe and the USA in the 17th Century. They had a great time conducting their own Witch Trial and apply all that they learnt to the process.
Our Year 8 Geography students are currently studying Water in the World. All Year 8 students will head out to conduct Fieldwork on 6 September with a visit to the Clyde River Estuary and Mangrove Breeding Grounds, at Cullendulla. Students will also be taken on a cruise up the Clyde River on the Marinda to study river catchments. This is assured to be a fantastic learning opportunity for our students. Permission is available on Compass at the moment. I would like to remind all families to complete this asap.

Year 12 Legal Studies
Year 12 Legal Studies students attended Batemans Bay Local Court, last week. They were able to sit in the gallery and listen to a number of matters being heard. At the conclusion of the court session, our students were able to meet with the judge and discuss the decisions that had been made throughout the day, the legal basis for these decisions, along with contributing factors. This was an excellent opportunity for our Year 12 students to see the legal process in action.
