VET Construction: Celebrating Our Year 11 Students' Work Placement Success

We are pleased to share the outstanding achievements of our Year 11 VET Construction students during their recent work placements. For many of these students, this was their first experience in the construction industry and related trades, and they have made us incredibly proud with their performance and the positive feedback they received from host employers.

Marlee Bennett had the opportunity to work with Bunnings in Batemans Bay, where the staff praised her exceptional work ethic and interpersonal skills. She quickly became a valuable part of the team, demonstrating maturity and a strong commitment to learning.

Will Sullivan gained hands-on experience with a local electrical contractor, Mitch Pearson from Bonded Earth. During his placement, he observed the critical importance of Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and participated in Toolbox talks, which are essential for maintaining safety on the job site.  Will showed a keen interest in understanding the safety protocols and was highly engaged throughout the experience.

Beau Mullins worked alongside his father in Wagga, where he gained invaluable experience in solar installations and commercial electrical work. This placement provided Beau with a firsthand look at the demands and rewards of working in the construction industry, further igniting his passion for the electrical trade.

These placements not only allowed our students to apply the skills they have learned in class but also gave them a glimpse into the real-world applications of their studies. The positive feedback from their host employers is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and readiness to take on the challenges of the construction industry.

We extend our thanks to all the host employers for providing these valuable learning opportunities and for supporting our students as they begin their journey into the workforce. We look forward to seeing more of our students thrive in their future placements and careers.

Well done to all involved!
