Bullying No Way - National Week of Action
This week was a really important week to recognise and pay attention to a worthy cause. It is Bullying No Way - National Week of Action. Here is the purpose of why we got involved:
The National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence has a new name—Bullying No Way: National week of action.
Bullying No Way Week, 12 to 16 August 2024, is Australia’s key bullying prevention initiative and connects schools and communities to find workable solutions to prevent bullying.

The week gives schools and supporters flexibility to plan activities that suit their schedule—whether it's spreading awareness throughout the week or focusing on an impactful day or two.

Purple is the new hero colour representing Bullying No Way: National week of action and our commitment to standing against bullying.

Carroll College participated in a number of activities. Students wore an accessory (socks, hair band, hat, jewellery, scarf, etc) of purple today and staff were invited to wear anything they have that is purple to support this very important cause.
On Wednesday 14 August during AM break in the HUB, Maggie Aylmore (ex-student) from Headspace Batemans Bay presented on the importance of mental health and the impacts of bullying. This was an optional activity for students to attend and is a part of our Wednesday Wellbeing workshops. It was great to see students engaged in this workshop.
On Friday 16 August, rather than doing an extended homeroom, students listened and participated during Period 1 with the Google Slides and activities created to participate in Bullying No Way. This featured statistics, facts and videos about the impacts of bullying and we watched a video that was created by our students and their views on why bullying needs to stop.

Ways to increase your mood
What do you find is the best way to increase your mood? Did you know it has been scientifically proven how the brain responds to certain things to improve your mood and how long each thing takes to improve you mood?

The following 3 activities were shown to improve your mood the fastest:
Exercise – takes 30 seconds to improve mood
Music – takes 7 seconds to improve mood (put on that playlist that brings you joy)
Laughter – instantly improves mood (even forcing a smile can trick your mind into triggering happy chemicals)
Be sure to look for opportunities to do this in your daily activities and help others do this too.
