Archdiocesan Tennis Report

It was a cold, windy and rainy day in Goulburn for the Archdiocesan Tennis Championships for 2024. Both our Girls and Boys teams were early and we were able to have a quick warm-up to prepare for the day before the rain hit.

Our Girl's team of Georgia Lovegrove, Pypar McCarthy, Arielle Brantingham and Bonnie Dalgleish started the day well with a solid 5 sets to 1 win over Lumen Christi Catholic College, Pambula. Pypar McCarthy had a strong 6-0 victory. It was a flawless set of tennis considering the conditions.

The Boys then played Lumen Christi and came away with a 6 sets to 0 victory. Max Colbourne came away with a convincing 6-0 victory against a solid opponent. Round 2 was against Trinity Catholic College Goulburn. The Boy's team was again too strong and won 6 sets to 0, dropping only 13 games. Henry Allen and Will Lovegrove played great doubles winning their set 6-2.

The Girl's match against Trinity was even more convincing. They won 6 sets to 0 and only dropped 2 games in those six sets. Bonnie Dalgleish and Arielle Brantingham combined exceptionally well and won their set 6-0.

Both teams played some great tennis and were well-deserved winners of both events. Their commitment, team spirit and overall presentation were to be admired. They did themselves and the College proud.

Carroll College now advances to the CCC State Tennis Championships to be held in Bathurst next term on Monday 3rd June 2024.

Well done to the following students:

Max Colbourne, Joshua Nguyen, Henry Allen and Will Lovegrove

Georgia Lovegrove, Pypar McCarthy, Arielle Brantingham and Bonnie Dalgleish
