Principal's Welcome

Dear Parents, Students and Friends

I hope your Easter break was enjoyable. It is a time of reflection for Christians as it represents hope and the promise of eternal life. The special blessings of family and friends draw us into the mystery of Easter and symbolises renewal and new life.

EASTER PRAYER

O God of the Last Supper
God of the Cross
And God of the Empty Tomb
We come before you now and we pause.

Holy Week has passed.
But how we long to live by
the marvellous story we have heard.

Let us remain ever beside you at the table of the Last Supper.
Show us who is hungry.
And give us the courage to offer them bread from your table.
Show us who is thirsty.
And give us the strength to lift up the cup of your love.

Most of all, show us how to linger at the table, serving others
Doing ALL that we do
In remembrance of You,
And the way You were when You walked this earth.

We lift these simple, limited words
Up to you, O God.  Amen

BE THAT TEACHER CAMPAIGN
Congratulations to Mrs Erica Drewsen who was nominated and has featured in the Teacher Gallery for the ‘Be That Teacher’ Campaign.

“Many of us have that one teacher we remember. The teacher who helped us to learn and grow, who gave us the confidence to explore and master new talents and skills. The teacher who encouraged us to strive for more and helped us reach our potential.

Be That Teacher is a joint Australian, state and territory government initiative which aims to showcase the value and importance of teachers and encourages Australians to consider a career in teaching.” https://www.bethatteacher.gov.au/

This is wonderful recognition of Mrs Drewsen’s passion for education and the expertise she brings to her role. She is an inspiration to all aspiring teachers!

Mrs Drewsen’s story has been published and can be viewed at Teacher Gallery - Be That Teacher, Australian Government.

CATALYST
Our Catalyst journey this year continues to focus on High Impact Teaching Practice (HITP), which is based on the Science of Learning and Barak Rosenshine’s 10 Principles of Instruction. Aligned to our system priorities, we have set out to meet a bold goal that HITP is visible in every classroom. We know an evidence-based approach to teaching provides the best environment to impact student learning.

ANNUAL IMPROVEMENT PLAN
Our 2024 Annual Improvement Plan focuses on three goals.

Goal 1: Improve student achievement in Reading through the implementation of explicit teaching

using evidence-based practices.

Goal 2: Promote Teacher Efficacy using High Impact Teaching Practices

Goal 3: Enhance school culture through explicitly teaching an engaging behaviour curriculum

ANZAC DAY
I invite all students to participate in ANZAC Day services across the region. ANZAC Day falls in the second week of the school holidays on Thursday 25 April. Carroll College will be represented at eight locations from Batemans Bay to Narooma. Students are asked to present in full summer uniform. Specific details outlining meeting times, location and staff contacts for each venue will be forwarded to families before the end of next week.

I congratulate all students on the way they have engaged in their learning this term. Classroom Mastery has created consistently productive, safe and calm classroom environments and it is wonderful to see students responding to the new routines and expectations and seeing the benefits.
