Sports News
It's been another huge term for sport at CCB! Below I have written some of the highlights throughout the term so far.
Soccer
Big congratulations to all our students who represented the college in our Bill Turner Cup soccer teams this year and our senior boys teams. We have an outstanding group of young players coming through in both our boys and girls divisions and it was our most successful year to date.
The girls team made it to Round 4.
The boys team made it to Round 3 in the Bill Turner Competition.
A big thanks to all the staff involved in helping with soccer this year - Mrs Cooper, Mr Kenneally, Mrs Rudol and Mr Szkwarek.
Netball
Earlier in the term the college competed in the Netball NSW regional finals at Broulee.
The Year 9/10 boys were undefeated in every round, however, went down to St Johns Nowra in the Grand final.
The Year 7/8 girls also did really well, only losing one round of the day. Unfortunately, they lost the finals but played beautifully, supporting each other and showing respect towards the umpires and their opponents.
Our Year 9 and 10 umpires that travelled with us did a fantastic job, even though some were challenged by players. A huge thanks and congratulations to Mia Lasscock, Annabelle Paul, Emily Borg and Maya Barnes.
Thanks to all the staff that attended on the day and Mrs Dwyer for organising the event.
Archdiocese Netball Championships
On Monday 28 August, we had 8 teams travel to Canberra to compete in the Archdiocesan Netball Championships. Our 7/8 girls team placed 2nd, 7/8 boys placed 2nd, 9/10 girls placed 1st and our open boys placed 1st. Congratulations!
Thanks to Mrs Smart, Mr Thane, Mr Harding, Ms Ferguson, Mrs Paull and Mrs Lyttle/Mrs Dwyer for organising the event.

NSW All Schools Golf
Earlier in the term, Sophie & Bill Eppelstun had a wonderful week in Newcastle as part of the NSWCCC golf team playing in the NSW All Schools Golf Championships. After 4 x 18 hole rounds at Belmont Golf Club and Waratah Golf Club, Sophie finished 5th overall with very consistent rounds - 1 over par, 1 over par, even par and 2 over par, making the NSW All Schools Golf Team. Sophie also won runner-up in the NSWCCC girl’s scratch event; missing out on the top honour by 1 shot.
Sophie Eppelstun then competed in the School Sport Australia Golf Championships on the 6 - 11August.
The School Sport Australia Golf Championships were held at 3 different courses on the Gold Coast - 2 rounds per day x 4 days at Palmer Gold Coast, Robina Woods & Emerald Lakes; a mix of stroke play and match play against the other state teams.
Sophie finished 10th in the girls 36 hole stroke play with rounds of 6 over and even par. The NSW team won the match play.
Congratulations Sophie!

School Surfing
Congratulations to Lincoln Dell, Harry Barrington, Lizzy Barrington and Ruby Davis who competed in the South Coast State School Surfing Title earlier in the term held at Corrimal Beach, Wollongong.
The girls surfed well in the tricky conditions and came 4th overall.
The boys surfed well and made it into the quarter-finals before being knocked out.
Thanks to Mrs Dell for taking the team away.

Touch football
On 2August we had 4 teams travel to Penrith for the NSW Touch Football State Cup. These teams qualified for the finals in Penrith at our local gala day Batemans Bay. The standard of touch football at the tournament was exceptional and although our teams did not win many games, they have significantly improved their touch games. We are looking forward to seeing them in action again in Cootamundra in Term 4.
A big thank you to Mr Brady, Miss Large, Miss Ferguson and Mrs Davis for their time and organistation.

Rugby Union
9/10 Boys
Earlier in the term, the Carroll College 9/10 Boys Rugby Union team travelled to Canberra to take part in the finals of the Brumbies Rugby 7s tournament.
Our team played some fantastic rugby and represented our school with sportsmanship and pride.
The team finished third in our entire region, which is a fabulous achievement. Thanks to Mr Brady and Mrs Katuke for coaching and organising.
Rugby 9/10 Girls
Earlier in the term, the U16 Girls Rugby Union Team travelled to Canberra for the ACT and Southern NSW Brumbies High School 7s Finals.
Well done to our girls, for their fantastic sportsmanship and phenomenal effort considering all of our players were playing up one age group
Thanks to Mr Brady for your time and organistation.
AFL
Earlier in the term our 7-9 boys and girls AFL teams competed in the South Coast schools AFL Cup.
After a late withdrawal from Moruya High, both teams had to play one game against Narooma High. Unfortunately, the girls lost to a strong Narooma side but played well on the day. Our boy's side was victorious and progressed to the South Coast finals where they faced some tough competition. The boys competed well all day against schools from Wollongong, Nowra, and Pambula. Unfortunately, the boys lost all three games in tight contests. However, they showed great effort, attitude and sportsmanship.
A big thanks to Mr Thane and Mr Graziani for coaching and organising the AFL this year!
