A Message from our Assistant Principal Pastoral Care

World Teachers Day

On 28 October the school day began with our morning prayer led by our College Captains. The prayer focused on teachers, the role they play in the lives of their students and how much this is valued. The prayer of thanksgiving asked us all to recall a teacher in our lives that had a positive impact on us and helped to form the people we are. I am sure we all had one that came to mind. The Student Leadership Team also organised a lovely morning tea for the staff to enjoy along with a hamper of treats from Mrs Heffernan to acknowledge the hard work and dedication shown by the staff each day. The Staff Centre had been decorated and delicious cakes and slices were ready to be enjoyed. On behalf of the Staff, I would like to thank the SLT. This thoughtful gesture was much appreciated.

Academic Care Program planning

This week the Pastoral leaders spent a day focused on the planning and programming of the Academic Care program that will be implemented in the college from 2023. This program will have a holistic approach and is aimed at enhancing the protective and connective role Carroll College plays in the lives of our students. Through the Academic Care Program, students will have a dedicated lesson each fortnight where they will gather in classes made up of their year cohort. During this lesson, the focus will rotate through wellbeing topics, study skills, curriculum issues, spirituality, social justice initiatives, house/year meetings and peer support opportunities. Our planning also includes Pastoral Days for our 7-10 year groups targeting the specific needs of each cohort as well as external providers offering whole school topics. 2023 is looking very exciting!
