A Message from our Assistant Principal Pastoral Care
Welcome back to Term 3 2022 to all our families. I hope everyone had a restful break, ready to embrace all the opportunities this term has in store.
Student Leadership Team nominations
The Senior Leadership Team for 2022 has done a wonderful job leading the students to engage in a wide range of carnivals, social justice issues and fundraising events. At this time of the year, however, we need to begin the transition to our next leadership team. At the end of Term 2, through their Academic Care period, Yr 11 spent time focusing on what leadership looks like in a Catholic school and Jesus as a role model of leadership. Students heard from the current College Captains and Mrs Heffernan as they reflected on their leadership.
Following this, students were encouraged to nominate for leadership by completing a self-reflection form. Over the next few weeks, Yr 11 students will be interviewed, and have an opportunity to speak to their peers who together with staff will engage with an online form where they can indicate their views on the individuals they feel are best placed to lead the College.
Thank you to all the Year 11 students who have nominated to be part of this process. It is wonderful to hear the high esteem these individuals hold their school, peers and teachers in. We wish everyone well and pray that through the process our next leaders will emerge.
Growing Stronger Survey
All Year 8 and Year 10 families have received emailed information about the Growing Stronger survey. During August these students have been invited to participate in this research-based initiative, offered in collaboration with the University of Deakin. Growing Stronger hopes to provide valid data to assist organisations in developing evidence-based interventions to assist our youth. Thank you to everyone involved, and we look forward to the outcome.
Counselling access
Our College Counsellor, Naomi Bee, is available for our students on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday each week. To assist students with making appointment times a new system has been introduced. You can now book in to see the counsellor by scanning a QR code and completing an online form. The QR codes are located on the door of the counsellor's office, pastoral office, Aboriginal Contact Centre and sick bay. If you do not wish to use the QR code, you can still speak with your pastoral coordinator or email the counsellor directly.
Good luck Yr 12
Our Year 12 students begin their Trial HSC examinations at the end of next week. We wish them all the very best. Students and families are reminded that if they have any concerns during this time they are encouraged to make contact with their Pastoral Coordinator.
