Principal's Welcome

Dear Parents, Students and Friends

I hope the Easter break provided some much-needed rest for you all. I am sorry to hear that Covid is still impacting families. It is certainly a persistent cycle that we are managing. I do hope we all remain well as winter approaches. Please know I understand the level of fatigue that is widespread across our community. Go gently and please reach out if the college can be of more support.

Welcome

A very warm welcome to Mr Matt King. As previously communicated, Mr King joins us from Ulladulla High and has been permanently appointed as our new Maths teacher. Mr King is no stranger to Carroll, and it is wonderful to be welcoming him back. Again, congratulations to Mr King on his appointment!

Congratulations

Some very exciting news to share! Baby Max Ayden Mulally was born on 13 April weighing 3.67kg and 51.5cm long. I extend our warmest congratulations to Mr Sean Mulally and his wife Yasmin on the safe arrival of their first child.

Congratulations also to newlyweds, Ms Louisa Bonner and husband, Ewan. Best wishes from the Carroll College community.

In other exciting news, Mrs Danielle Ciuffetelli and husband, Brendan are expecting their first child later this year. Congratulations to both Danielle and Brendan.

Parish News

Fr George Azhakath, Parish Priest at Moruya has announced that he will be returning to India shortly. At this stage, there has been no announcement regarding his replacement. I will update you as I receive more information.

We also received correspondence recently that the Archbishop has accepted a request from Fr Martins to extend his leave as Parish Priest of Batemans Bay until December 2022 to enable Fr Martins to continue his studies. For this to happen, there has been a priest swap. From 29 April until 16 December 2022, Fr Martins will be priest in residence at St Thomas Aquinas Charnwood and Fr Tom Thornton will be Parish Priest at Batemans Bay. Deakin Eden will be ordained this year and will continue to support at St Bernard’s. We very much look forward to welcoming Fr Tom back to St Bernard’s and supporting Deakin Eden for the remainder of the year.

Director’s Visit

Director, Mr Ross Fox will be visiting the college on Tuesday 10 May. The Director will arrive at 12.00pm and will begin his visit with a tour of the college with Captains and Vice Captains and will visit some classrooms. Afterwards he will have a lunch meeting with the executive team. We look forward to his visit.

Online Family Event – Family Engagement Makes a Difference

The Council of Catholic School Parents Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn (CSPACG) in collaboration with Catholic Education are hosting an online family event in Term 2. This event coincides with National Families Week - Australia’s annual celebration of the importance of families.

This event is an opportunity for families to learn more about the Catholic School Parent Council and the ways it provides advocacy, leadership, representation, and support for families in our Archdiocese. There will also be an opportunity to discover some practical ways for families to engage in their child’s learning. The flyer which promotes this event can be found further on in this newsletter. Registration can be completed via the link on the flyer.

College Executive

Each semester we have a rotational position on the College Executive team for senior leaders. Mrs Emma Mullins joins the executive team for Terms 2 and 3. Mrs Mullins expressed interest some time ago and it is now her opportunity to gain experience at this level. I welcome her to the team and wish her well.

Additional Pupil Free Days – Term 2

As communicated earlier this week, Catholic Education is expanding on the support offered to schools to facilitate professional learning due to the pandemic. This term, Director Ross Fox has provided each school with an additional two days of Professional Learning. The additional pupil free days for St Mary’s Moruya, St Bernard’s Batemans Bay and Carroll College Broulee will be the last two days of Term 2. These dates are Thursday 30 June and Friday 1 July 2022. The additional days will certainly support us in planning for Term 3 and focusing on Catalyst initiatives.

Meet our Team

This week, I have included photos and positions of our Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA) and Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) Teachers.
