Careers News
National Careers Week will be celebrated in Term 2. The official date is week 4, 16th - 20th May.
To celebrate careers and the role they have in our and our young people's lives, the following is planned: in addition to the careers counselling sessions, both group and individual, that have been occurring during class time:
- Weekly Career Ponder Videos/ Discussion points - ranging from 1 to 5 minutes and are aimed at all age groups. They are designed to get students to think about an aspect of career planning which can be practised at school. For example, the first week is about Goal setting; week 2 is about Who am I. Students can access these videos through the Sentral portal each week during homeroom.
- Year 11 (16 May) and Year 8 (17 May) students will undertake a Future Me day with UOW on the College Campus. Students will attend a session within their school day with some students from their house group. The student's specific session time will be posted on Sentral daily notices on the program day. Students will return to their regular classes on the day when they are not attending this session. There is no cost for this activity.
- Year 10 will attend Batemans Bay Day campus on 7 June followed by an Excursion to Bega for a South Coast Careers Expo on 17 May. These activities give students the opportunity to engage with tertiary providers and industry representatives regarding pathways and careers both locally and further afield.
- Year 12 UOW discovery day is on 9 June for the registered Year 12 students.
- Senior students are having a variety of pathway presentations made available to them during their Academic Care lessons, such as UAC, ACU, UC, and Police Recruitment.
Career Counselling sessions, both individually and in groups, are continuing to be run during class time for students to assist them with their pathway and transition plans. Students are encouraged to continually check the Carroll Careers Facebook page, Sentral, and their school emails to access opportunities. I look forward to a wonderful term in the careers space with students.
Kind Regards
