Occupation: Marketing Manager, EY Australia

What are you currently doing? Based in Sydney, I lead the marketing strategy for EY in the NSW market. EY is one of the largest professional services organisations in the world, with over 300,000 staff in 150 countries. The firm operates in a very competitive environment, so my role is focused on running high-impact campaigns and activities that build the brand of EY and demonstrate what sets us apart.

What is a typical day like in your role? Luckily, no two days are ever the same in my role. On a typical day, I might be working with my team to plan a marketing campaign, writing a speech for one of my bosses, balancing budgets or meeting with a creative agency to develop marketing collateral.

What’s the best advice you can give someone who just started their career? Build up your network, never say no to a good opportunity and find time to balance your professional achievements with having fun. You only live once! Travelling and having adventures will give you stories to share, memories to cherish and new perspectives to learn from.

What energises you at work? Working with fun, smart and creative people. It’s hard to not be picked up and propelled forward when you’re surrounded by passionate people who genuinely care about what they do.

What interests do you have outside of work? Stemming from my Business Studies days at Carroll… I love tracking the stock market and trying to predict which companies will boom or bust. Otherwise, I take every chance I get to visit Batemans Bay on weekends to enjoy beach runs, kayaking and tennis. No trip home is complete without going to the Mossy Café though!

What is your fondest memory of Carroll College? The canteen!!! My friends and I still talk about the chocolate brownies, sun fruits, flame-grilled chicken burgers and lasagne! Otherwise, I’ll always be thankful for the lifelong friends I made at Carroll, through to Year 12.
